Now I know that quite reasonably, you would expect me to tell you how this is made and give you the recipe'. However, today my readers, that is your homework. No directive will be given on this dish, instead, i'll introduce you to the background information on this dish.
Steam fish and Bammy is a mainstay in the diet of Jamaicans, especially on beach trips, take a visit to any Jamaican beach side restaurant and I can assure you that you will find this on the menu.
In this setting you get to go into the restaurant, choose your fish from the freezer and have it prepared right in front of you. These fishes are freshly caught from the sea.
The fish is steamed in a well seasoned blend of herbs and spices and the okra can never be forgotten from the meal.
Bammy is a flat bread made from cassava in Jamaica, it is traditional Jamaican fare. This is then fried and soaked in the juices from the steamed fish.
It is a decadent and really delicious affair. I recommend consuming your fish in between dips in the sea. Take a dip first, have your fish and bammy and then take another swim in the ocean.
Would you try this meal? Let's talk!
